StarShine Guide and Review

Well, I'm going for a picture guide. Today, we have StarShine, a puzzle game by HeroInteractive with 50 levels. Yes, I had to take a screenshot of every one of the 50 levels. I pray to God this helps, because it took a LONG time and it was very hard to put together. 50 levels is a lot, so beware of epic scrollage.

STARSHINE REVIEW
Well, StarShine puzzle game, and a good one at that. It involves a circle and several stars inside it. Your goal of each level is to hit the right star at the right angle to cause a chain reaction. If all stars are lit up, the level is completed. There are 50 levels in all. StarShine is a very unique puzzle game, and hard too. Even if you use a guide (like the one above), you may still have trouble getting the placement just right. It makes you try every possibility until you find that golden angle and then you can watch the chain reaction, giving you a warm feeling inside, which is interrupted by an even harder level. StarShine has a very original idea, and it's executed very well. With a great soundtrack, sound effects, and graphics, StarShine makes for an ace game, definitely worth playing, with or without a badge. (and yes, there is a badge) The music is very calming and soothing, and fitting for the atmosphere. The sound effects are great. Very clear, and perfect for something like a star twinkling. The graphics are great; very polished, the animation is smooth, and the game is just great to look at. However, the downside of this game is definitely the replay value. Since it's a puzzle game, once you beat it, you're pretty much done with it. However, there are 50 levels, so beating this game is easier said than done. Overall, StarShine is a fantastic puzzle game. Very original, great gameplay, atmospheric music, fitting and clear sound effects, and polished visuals. The only fault is the low replay value.

Gameplay: 5/5

Music: 4/5

Sound: 5/5

Graphics: 5/5

Replayability: 1/5

Overall: 20/25, 4/5

That does it for me. Hope this helped. See ya next time!

First of all, thank you for the guide.
Secondly, I was amazed to read the review had nothing but good sides of the game and mentions nothing about the serious frustration caused by the glitch in the game.

Imagine going a level over and over and over again and not getting through. Then imagine searching for a guide, which you find, and going back to the game to finally get through the level and get back to having fun trying to figure the puzzles out. The angle provided by the guide still doesn't do the trick. Imagine next going back to the search, and finding a conversation between a guide writer and frustrated players, and from there finding out that the game's workings with the angles changes with the quality settings, AND with the size of your screen. So if you have the quality setting 'wrong' or the settings of your screen strech the game just enough, you'll NEVER get the angle right. Furthermore the situation changes with each level, so also imagine having to go through a hard level testing each quality setting, rezizing your screen and hoping to be in luck.

It WOULD be a great game, I enjoyed the first 9 levels very much, but this ruins it, there is no joy of discovery left, when you know that yes, you might actually have figured the angle right, but the game is just glitched and that's why it doesn't work. I first thought the glitch isn't too bad, but 40 levels of trying to work around the bug certainly proved me wrong.
