Daily Reviews - Monster Basement and Feel the Beat (F2 Jam)

I'm not feeling well today, so let's get this over with.

Monster Basement
Well, Monster Basement is another point-and-click interaction games. The puzzles in this game are actually pretty good. Some kept me stumped for a while, but I managed to beat it without a guide. Anyway, there isn't much to say about Monster Basement. It's another environment interaction game. Talk to this, look at that, pick up this, etc. It's got a few aspects about it that could make it seem scary, but it's not trying to be a horror film or anything. There is music every now and then, but it's mostly silent. The sound effects are great as well, nice clarity and fit in the game. The graphics are very good - there is a lot of detail on items in this game, like portraits. As for the replay value, what do you expect? After beating a game like this, there's no reason to come back to it. Overall, Monster Basement is a pretty good game with good graphics, sound effects, and the occasional music. However, it suffers for its low replay value.

Feel the Beat (F2 Jam)
Feel the Beat is a rhythm game like the Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe series. However, in this game, you use 7 letter keys (which you can customize to your liking) instead of number keys and arrow keys. There are only 3 songs on the Kongregate edition, with one other song on ThorGaming.com, so it's kind of a demo, but that 4th song isn't too great. The best songs are on Kongregate, my favorite being the piano song. Feel the Beat is a very good game and it's very fun. There are three modes - Easy, Medium and Hard. There are several speeds, ranging from 1 to 15, if I recall correctly. And there are "Crazy Options" like random colors, random speed, random notes, and a bunch of other.. cuh-raazy stuff to keep you interested. After all, there are only 3 songs. That about rounds up gameplay. As for music... what do you think? The song selections are great. As for sound... Well, this is hard to talk about. Technically, the sound IS the music in this game. Bah, I'm confused now. Both rock, okay? Good enough? I hope so, because I'm getting a headache to go with my illness. Okay, graphics are alright. The shading on the lights when you press are key are great and all, but the game is mostly bars and dots. Not much to talk about. As for replayability, the game is surprisingly addicting. I find myself playing for quite a while, trying out different difficulties, speeds, and crazy options. There is a lot to experiment with in this game, so it actually has a pretty decent replay value, even though you technically can't "beat" it. But whatever. Overall, F2 Jam is a great new take on rhythm games with great music/sounds, good graphics, and a decent replay value. I suggest it to fans of DDR, SCGMD, GH, etc.
