abstracta Review

Hey all! I'm really overworking myself and I've already done enough reviews for the day, but I came across abstracta and I decided it DESERVED a review. So, without further ago, let's begin.

abstracta Review
Now, abstracta is a great game. Fantastic piece of work with a hard-to-memorize name. Basically, you're this little dot trying to dodge mines, while trying to collect little items. There are red ones, green ones, and yellow ones. Now, here's the catch: If you collect a red one, then another red, then another red, then another red, you'll notice that the amount of points you get is increased every time you collect that one color. You're literally trying to avoid other things that give you points, because they break the chain. That's new, right? Avoiding GOOD things? Very interesting. Anyway, as you get more points, powerups show up, like speeding up, slowing down, lightning bolt (which destroys surrounding mines, items, and other powerups), the works. After a while, you run into a boss. There are 4 bosses. If you kill it, you go back to collecting items and such. If you die, you die. You are given 5 hits before you die. There is a normal mode and a free play mode. In normal mode, you are given the powerups over time and can submit high scores. In free play, you're given the powerups all at once in the beginning but can't submit high scores. So that covers the basics of the game. The game is addictive, fun, and has a great difficulty; not too hard, but not too easy. It's long and challenges your reflexes and skills. The gameplay is very fast paced and fun, with something about it that makes you want to play for hours on end! As for the music, it's pretty nice. It's good music to listen to while playing, but it comes complete with a mute button in case you don't like it. The sound effects are great. Good clarity, well synced, and fit with the game. The graphics are awesome, too, as far as little dots go. There's a good bit of detail on the bosses and the game looks polished and it's just nice to look at. This game has great replay value. The bosses are hard, so if you're determined to kill them, you'll come back over and over until you kill all 4. There are a lot of powerups to try out as well. Overall, this game is very fun and will keep you addicted for a long time. The music is fitting, the sound effects are clear, and the graphics are polished. I highly suggest this game to anyone. It's well worth playing and well worth a badge. Although there are times when you're completely screwed, it's a very fun game.

Gameplay: 5/5

Music: 4/5

Sound: 5/5
