Hexiom Connect Review

Hexiom:Connect Review
Hey, this is my first review, now let's get started!

Well first, let's talk about Hexiom's history.

The first Hexiom game came out 2007 on Kongregate. It was a decent puzzle game. After a year a sequel was released on Kongregate called: Hexiom Connect. Although its a easier game, it's more fun. You can make and play custom levels that you can share with your friends that gives you even more time of playing it, and with 40 levels of puzzle action, what can go wrong?

Yes, it's easier, but that dosnt mean it's not hard, oh no. This game is a diffucult game that could keep you playing for hours trying to get the badges, and yes, the badges ARE worth it. The game gets harder and harder as you play, you might even need a guide to get you through his game. I didn't complete the game, but I got pretty far, I got to number 18.

Now, for the best part, scoring time!

Challenge - 8/28/08 - 9/4/08

Two challenges a week is getting pretty stressful! But oh well. This week, we have Arachnophilia, by DigYourOwnGrave. Basically, you're a spider. You have to make web and eat bugs to stay alive. Pretty simple, and easy, until the freaking stag beetles arrive. I hate them, I hate them! Well, anyway, to get this week's card, you need to get 1,000 points. Fairly easy, but here are a few tips anyway:

1) From what I've played, don't bother trying to get the stag beetles. If they can break through 6 lines of web, I'm not bothering anymore.
2) Ladybugs are your friend. No threat to your web and they get you a lot of points, health, and webbing.
3) Art mode is actually good practice. It may not seem hard to just line up webbing, but art mode (where you have infinite webbing and can't die) might help your webbin' skillz.

That's all I can think of for now. There are three badges along with the card, so good luck with those. You should get the Easy badge before the card, but the others might be a bit tougher.

But anyway, good luck and happy gaming!

Challenge - 8/25/08 - 9/01/08

Hey hey pplz. Obeliskos here with the newest challenge. This week, we have Hexiom Connect, sequel to Moonkey's Hexiom. It's a puzzle game, basically, so I will list guides for 15 levels - you don't have to do them in order for this challenge, so you can just use these guides to get the card, then do the rest for the badges. I've picked the easiest for me, but they'll be easy for you because you're just copying. ;)

Heh, I did them all in order. How 'bout that? Well, there's your guide. This will get you a card and an easy badge as well. There are 25 other levels and 2 more badges to get though, so I'm still working! A full guide should be up sometime this week - hey, I'm trying my best and I do have other things to do. If I can't do it, I'll get Aestin on it. He's good at playing games and such.

So, as always in parting, I wish you love, peace, and soul!

Challenge - 8/21/08 - 8/28/08

Woot, Epic War has finally gotten badges! :D

Okay, let's discuss the challenge, then maybe I'll do a review and walkthrough tomorrow. Not feeling up to it right now...

Okay, so, for this challenge, you have to get to level 5 in Epic War. If you've already gotten to that point or beyond, just load your game, save, and wait a bit. The card will come to you instantly. Yay!

But if you haven't gotten that far, here are a few pointers: First off, the game involves a lot of grinding, playing the same level over and over until you get a bunch of EXP, then upgrade like crazy. Rinse and repeat. Doing this will not only help you reach the end, but fully upgrading arrows and troops will get you two medium badges and 30 points. Another suggestion is to master the art of shooting the arrows. Victory relies mostly on the troops, but you have to work, too! If you practice, you'll know when your arrows will miss, hit the enemy, or hit your own troops! After a while, you'll probably get very good, and if you repeat lower levels, you'll get even better, as well as EXP. This game takes time to finish and the last fight is very hard, but it's a rewarding game - besides, you want the 65 points. Oh yes you do. I know it.

That's about all the advice I can give for now. Practice makes perfect, and grind like crazy!

Good luck and happy gaming!

Scope: First Blood Walkthrough and Quickshot Review

Hey all, Obe here. The game Scope: First Blood got a badge recently, so here I am with a quick walkthrough and review. The game is pretty easy, but still. Without further ado, here be the walkthrough.

Level 1: Shoot the dog.
Level 2: Shoot the radio, then pool a few times.
Level 3: (I'll be blunt here) Shoot the penis.
Level 4: Shoot the cigarettes, NOT THE PEOPLE.
Level 5: Shoot the guy, then the lamp above.
Level 6: Shoot the window. Shoot the oil barrel, then LEFT rope at top. Double kill, ULTRA COMBO!
Level7: Shoot all the guys before they escape.

Completing all of the levels will earn you a shiny new badge and 15 points.

Scope: First Blood Review
Well, Scope is a stickmen sniper game. Yeeeah, that's all I can say for the most part. You've played one, you've played them all. Some are more deep and require more thought (which isn't the case for this game), but they're all the same monotonous thing: shoot this, shoot that, kill him, kill that. Pretty repetitive and I think sniping games suck personally. But whatever. That covers gameplay. Okay, music is alright, and it comes complete with a mute button (not like you need it, the game takes 2 minutes to beat), but it's nothing special. Sound effects are a bit lame. The only sound effect I recall is the rifle being shot. There are a few other things, but nothing much. Well, graphics? Um, they're stickmen. I really don't have much else to say. Despite the humble charm stickmen have, this game doesn't have much going for it, graphics-wise. The animation is choppy and the bleeding effects are pretty dull. As for replayability... Hah! Riiiight. Overall, Scope is a stickmen sniping game, which we get plenty of. It's nothing new, nothing special, and it's been done many times before, just much better.

Gameplay: 1/5

Music: 2/5

Sound: 2/5

Graphics: 1/5

Replayability: 1/5

Overall: 7/25, 1/5

Challenge - 8/19/08 - 8/25/08

Well, this is new, is it not? This week, instead of a card, we get a ticket to enter a contest to win Fallout 3! This is good for some, bad for others. I personally don't care for it, but this is a pretty good idea and should give Kongregate some extra traffic.

But anyway, the game this week is Achilles, which has been long-awaited to have badges. Which it now does! Three to be exact: An easy, a medium, and a hard. But anyway, Achilles is basically an all-out action game. There isn't much to say, but here are a few tips:

1) Bowman are EVIL. They can and will shoot you from off screen, so block every other step you take. I'm dead serious.
2) You can block arrows from all directions. Don't think you have to change your position to block an arrow, because you don't.
3) Spearmen are your friend. D + T (or -> + 4) throws a spear, which kills an enemy in one hit. This is good. Spearmen can be hard to take down because of their long range, but it's worth it.
4) A combo: Slash, slash, kick, upslash. This combo worked well for me. Or was it downslash..? Er, you don't mind experimenting a bit, do you? :D
5) BOWMAN ARE EVIL. HATE THEM.

Well, that about rounds it up. Keep this tips in mind and you should succeed. It's only 60 kills in survival. Not too hard. Something else though: If you believe in yo'self, stay in milk, drink your teeth, don't do school, and get 8 hours of drugs, then you'll do great!

Good luck and happy gaming!

Daily Reviews - Solar Chiefs and Luncheon of the Dead

Hey all, Obe here. I just finished with the challenge update which I was a bit late on (sorry!), so to make up for it, here are the daily reviews! I haven't been keeping up with these well lately - I'll try to work on that.. Okay, my arms are sore today, so let's do this.

Solar Chiefs
Well, Solar Chiefs is a multiplayer game. You play as a space colony and upgrade your weapons. Once you're done doing that, you click the tower (which is hardly visible), pull back, and release where you think the missiles, or whatever they are, will land. There is a time limit, so you need to move fast. Once everything is done and over with, you wait for the timer to end and your attacks are carried out. Your online opponent does the same. There aren't many multiplayer flash games, especially not on Kongregate, and the ones that are uploaded on Kongregate are usually stolen or they suck. However, this game is pretty good. It's got a fairly simple concept, but pretty decent game. There isn't much else to talk about on gameplay, so let's move on - music. Well, the music, like most games, is just kind of something to listen to while playing, like overview music. It's nothing special, but better than dead silence. Now there, the sounds are very nice. Good clarity, well synced, overall solid sound effects. As for the graphics, they're pretty good, but some things are too small. The excuse for this is "resized the screen to fit Kongregate". That's nice, but there's something called F11. The graphics are nice on the main website, but this is All Things KONGREGATE, not All Things MyGame. So the graphics suffer for text being too small. Aside from that, the graphics are still pretty decent. Now then, replayability. This game is online, so there's always a new strategy used every time you battle, because each battle is a new person. Online games are generally considered to be more fun than games that don't provide online play. However, I think the game would be pretty nice, online or not. Sure, it's not fantastic. Not mind blowing. But it's a decent tactics game and I think it's worth a try.

Gameplay: 3/5

Music: 3/5

Sound: 5/5

Graphics: 3/5

Replayability: 3/5

Overall: 17/25, 3/5

Luncheon of the Dead
NOTE: I've been wanting to get to this as soon as I started Daily Reviews, so let's roll.

Okay, in Luncheon of the Dead, you are in control of 9 little sprites that are implied to be soldiers of some sort with an overhead view. You are in a mall. Zombies come from the bottom. There are three shops. You have to send out some soldiers to collect supplies at the shop while your main men shoot down the zombies, while upgrading your soldiers to make them harder, better, faster, and stronger. With that reference aside, let's go a bit more in-depth. In this game, you have 9 people. Click on them to move them around. If you have them scrounge, move them to one of the three stores and they'll collect supplies. While doing so, keep a good number of men defending the front lines against zombies.

Above is the interface of this game. Click on it to increase the size so you can read the text. Sorry if it's cluttered. That about covers gameplay, but here's a quick review anyway: Have some people scrounging for supplies, while holding off zombies, building debris where needed, and upgrading stuff. Okay, moving on: Music. Sadly, dead silence in this game. Sound is decent. Good clarity, well synced, good sound effects. Next, graphics. The game doesn't shine here either. The graphics are decent at least. Quite sub-par, but not too bad. There could use some polishing, but the graphics are still pretty nice. Nothing terrible, that's for sure. Okay, replayability. Now, for some reason, I don't know why, but I keep coming back to this game. Maybe it has addictive quality for me because I like these types of games or maybe I like trying new strategies, I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is, I find this game addicting and I play it for quite a while. Even speaking objectively, there is a decent replay value. Ever try playing without using debris or molotovs? What about sending out every single soldier to fight? Or maybe sticking 3 soldiers per room and closing it off with debris? There are a lot of things to experiment with in this game, and that's why I like it. Overall, Luncheon of the Dead is a fun game, but some may find it boring after a while. It lacks music, but the sound is good. The graphics are sub-par to say the least, but not terrible. It has high replay value. I suggest trying the game out, you might like it.

Gameplay: 4/5

Music: 0/5

Sound: 4/5

Graphics: 3/5

Replayability: 5/5

Overall: 16/25, 3/5
